ROUTE1 Car Rental at Keflavik Airport

Route1 Car Rental was founded in 2010. The company operates a meet and greet service, meeting passengers in arrivals with a Route1 logo on a whiteboard. A free shuttle bus takes customers to the Route1 Car Rental Keflavik Airport office. The journey takes only five minutes. The Route1 at Keflavik Airport includes the Hyundai I10 and I30, the Toyota Yaris and Suzuki Swift, the Dacia Logan and Suzuki Vitara as well as the Suzuki Jimny. Iceland has many F-roads that are difficult to navigate. If you are planning to explore the country, Route1 recommend you choose one of the 4x4s. F-roads are mainly roads running through mountainous terrain.

The city of Keflavik is only a short distance from the airport. Here visitors will find many shops and coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Reykjavik is about 50 km distance from the airport, roughly a 40 minute journey by car.

The south of Iceland boasts three national parks: Þingvallavatan in the southwest lies along the famous Golden Circle route that spans around 300km, starting from Reykjavik and circling the southern uplands. The national park is home to Iceland's largest lake. It takes ca. 45 minutes to drive to the park. Landmannalaugar National Park is home to Hekla Vulcana, one of the world's most active volcanoes. The multi coloured rock formations and mountains in this area attract many hikers. Horse-riding is also a popular leisure activity in this national park.

At Vatnajökull National Park visitors rank Skaftafell Ice Cave as one of the main attractions. This cave is open all year. In the north of the park lies a magical terrain of river and waterfalls, among the beautiful Dettifoss waterfall, which spans 100 meters across and plunges 45 meters down a rock face.
