From 9th October to 8th December every year Viðey Island, which lies just off Reykjavik, reminds the world of the life of John Lennon. The Imagine Peace Tower was the idea of his widow, Yoko Ono. The tower projects a light beam into the sky, visible throughout Reykjavik. The white stone monument has in inscription carved into its base in 24 languages that reads "imagine peace".

Keflavik city offers visitors plenty of restaurants and bars, coffee shops and retail outlets. Among the cultural attractions is Stekkjarkot, a historic cottage open to the public in summer from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm. The cottage shows what life was like for ordinary people before the 20th century.
