KEFLAVIK AIRPORT (KEF) INFORMATION

Keflavik Airport is located ca. 3 km from the city of Keflavik and around 50 km from Reykjavik. It is Iceland's main international airport and a hub for Icelandair. The nearest alternative airport is Reykjavic Airport (RKV) located approximately 22.3 miles/36 km away.

The main terminal contains two levels, the departure and arrivals areas, as well as the bus terminal, and a level with shops, coffee shops and restaurants. There are also Duty Free outlets selling sweets, wines, spirits, Icelandic and international cosmetics.

The Pure Food Hall is located on the second level in the main building, after the security control area. On the ground level there are outlets like Joe & the Juice, 10-11 Supermarket, Ginger health foods and Dunkin' Donuts. There is also a counter for tax refunds, currency exchange and car rental service desks.

Passengers will find free, unlimited WiFi in the terminal. A Flybus Airport shuttle runs between Reykjavik Airport and Keflavik Airport. The journey time takes ca. 45 minutes. The Flybus stand is located just outside the terminal building. The bus leaves 35-40 minutes after the arrival of each flight. There is a screen in the arrivals hall that tells passengers when the next bus is due.

Flybus stops at BSI bus terminal in Reykjavik. Passengers who have pre-booked their ticket will be dropped off at their chosen destination, be it a bus stop, hotel or guesthouse. There is also an Airport Direct bus service (Tel +354 497 8000 info@airportdirect.is). This service connects the airport with Reykjavik city at the Airport Direct Reykjavik Terminal at Skógarhlið 10.

Short-term parking is located just outside the arrivals hall. In this car parking facility the first 15 minutes are free of charge. The first hour is charged at ISK500.00, and every hour after that costs ISK750.00. Visitors can also pre-book a valet service. The valet will park the car for you.

Tourist Attractions in Iceland

Iceland offers many spectacular tourist attractions to visitors, among them whale watching, the famous Strokkur Geysir, Skaftafell Ice Cave in Vatnajökull National Park and Dettifoss Waterfall, which plunges 45 meters down a ravine and extends for some 100 meters in width.
